Supports MGS projects and channels in the USA and Canada providing engineering and geological input with a particular focus on tunnels and ground risk.Assists the Regional Sales Manager & Regional Business Manager to: - Identify opportunities, scope solutions and close sales- Manage projects to deliver requirements- Assist in the commercial management of projects to ensure profitabilityAs part of the MGS engineering group, serves as a specialist in tunneling, ground risk & ground modelling, and in this role helps scope functionality for the MissionOS software, support the R&D group to refine and deliver functioning code and provide documentation, demonstration and training materials as required.

Research in data driven modeling techniques in soft ground tunneling for ground deformation control and performance optimization.

Geotechnical analysis for City Rail Link tunnel project, assist with development of geotechnical data and baseline reports (GDR, GBR), geotechnical risk analysis and quantification.

•Developing field portable laboratory test equipment for EPB Tunneling.•Analyzing ground surface deformation due to excavation of multiple tunnels for the Queens bored tunnels.•Developing 3D geological models to better understand ground response due to tunnel construction.•Researching TBM look-ahead techniques (seismic and electrical) to be deployed on TBMs.•Mentoring and assisting undergraduate and graduate students with research.•Leading research teams to ensure efficient collaboration and progress.•Writing research grant proposals.•Developing and implementing marketing strategies for the center.•Interacting and communicating with vendors to fabricate laboratory device components.

Thesis: Using the Light Weight Deflectometer with Radial Offset Sensors on Two-Layer Systems for Construction Quality Control/Quality Assurance of Reclaimed and Stabilized Materials•Determined LWD is capable of detecting curing behavior of stabilized base layers.•Validated use of radial offset sensors to isolate individual layer moduli on multi-layer systems.•Determined advantages and limitations of different backcalculation techniques for estimating layer moduli including analytical layered-elastic and numerical finite element models.Study of a slow-moving translation landslide in Granby, CO•Analysis of borehole, survey and groundwater data determined that record snowpack resulted in elevation of water table above slip surface, causing an acceleration of the landslide.•Worked with an Engineering Geology PhD student exploring the use of ground-based radarto track deformations in real time; determined that results correlated well with traditional survey.Full scale embankment internal erosion test•Traveled with multidisciplinary PhD team to Holland to assist with geophysical and Lidar instrumentation to detect internal erosion on a collaborative full scale embankment test.•Independently responsible for collecting and processing survey data of the embankment.•Preliminary findings show that geophysical monitoring and remote sensing can detect internalerosion prior to visual inspection.

•Perform laboratory work for M.S. student including consolidation, unconfined compression, Atterberg Limits, linear shrinkage and surface area to determine which soil parameters govern soil strength increase with chemical additives.•Independently studied the potential for using recycled crushed glass as a non-chemical stabilizer in expansive soils and found that it does not improve the strength independently, but could potentially be combined with chemical additives to reduce amount of chemical agent required.
