I am looking to bring a strong work ethic, understanding of technology, and math acumen into the private work sector. I want to begin using real world applications of skills I have learned using mathematical analysis, business aptitude, and database configuration to help advance products and solutions.My name is Jacob Harris, but I go by Jake. I am currently a student at UNT, where I will complete my BS in Data Science and minor in Mathematics in December of 2022. I graduated from high school in 2006 and enrolled at UNT. After a year and a half of completing core classes, I enlisted in the Army in 2008 as a Tactical Data Systems Specialist for Artillery Systems. During 2009, I spent a year in Iraq as the lead driver in our convoy, where we conducted missions and personal security for our unit commander. I was honorably discharged at the end of 2011. During the summer of 2013, I began working for the TSA component of DHS. A few of my assignments were as follows: provided security at checkpoints and baggage locations throughout DFW airport, conducted coordination center operations throughout the airport (with coworkers and airport stakeholders), and lead an airport-wide, TSA property audit. During my first stint with TSA, I was promoted to the position of Lead Officer. I left TSA during the summer of 2017 and went through the Air Traffic Control Academy in Oklahoma City. I returned to TSA in November of 2017. I worked there until I accepted a position with the USCIS component of DHS, as an Immigration Services Assistant, in May of 2019. I assisted in the processing of naturalization applications and permanent residence applications. I also ran daily quality assurance reports and conducted internal security checks, as well as conducted checks through CBP's national database, TECS. While working with USCIS, I returned to UNT during the summer of 2020, to complete my undergraduate degree. I left government service during the summer of 2021 so that I could finish my degree and see what career options were out there for me. I started an internship with Ericsson HQ in the US, in Plano, TX, in May of 2022. I am currently working on the US Government Accounts Sales/Acquisition Team providing data entry/analysis, assisting with building the 2022 Business Plan, and forming customer/client relationships.
