About Jacob Ewing

I'm a PhD candidate in Materials Engineering at the University of California Santa Barbara. I research V-defect engineered green, yellow, and red InGaN LEDs where I specialize in metal-organics chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) growth and materials characterization but also have expertise in fabrication, packaging and testing of LEDs. I interned at Meta Reality Labs in the Optics and Display Research division working on microLEDs in 2023.I was awarded the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship in 2019 for my graduate studies. I graduated with a B.S. in Material Science and Engineering at the University of Florida where I worked in the Interdisciplinary Microsystems Group on magnetic films for RF devices and microrobotics. I worked as an intern at Sandia National Labs over summer 2018 in the MEMS technologies and micro-machining divisions
