In the game of life, we don't step up to the plate expecting to be worse off than others who have come before us. For many, though, life throws such a wicked curve ball that they stumble, they fall, and it is all they can do just to get up and keep playing. Those people, people who have experienced such unfortunate, senseless tragedies, are the people that I want to help. Thanks to my father, I had the privilege to meet some extraordinary people growing up. He was close friends with both a U.S. Army Ranger and an extreme sports athlete sponsored by multiple well-known companies. Both lost their legs in tragic accidents, and both have had their quality of life greatly improved thanks to engineers like my father. The technology they benefited from inspires me today to pursue my own work in biological signals and their applications.Presently, I'm spending my time (and money) at the University of Rochester studying Biomedical Engineering with a concentration in Biological Signals and Systems. On the side I am studying Spanish language and culture to make myself a citizen of the world, rather than a just citizen of Rochester. I'm fascinated by modern prosthesis that integrate electrical signals from the body and I hope to learn more about them at Rochester and in industry in the years to come. If you are in the market for a student that can solve difficult problems and is passionate for their work, don't hesitate to contact me. I am eager to gain experience and expand my understanding of medical devices in any way I can.
