About Jacob Light, Md

I am a graduate of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and completed ophthalmology residency at the Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins in 2021. I have engaged in research in both basic science and clinical retina focused on the frontiers of retinal prosthetic implants, high-resolution retinal imaging, and outcomes for patients with severe retinal vascular events. I completed a medical and surgical vitreoretinal fellowship at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and then returned to Baltimore where I served as Assistant Chief of Service of the Wilmer Eye Institute, teaching and mentoring ophthalmology trainees while managing complex ophthalmic and vitreoretinal clinical pathology. I am board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and currently practice at Sound Retina in Tacoma, WA since 2024. I carry with me a wide range of experiences including leadership roles in diversity and musical organizations, community service, and study of culture and the humanities. This unique perspective provides me with communication skills and cultural sensitivity critical to my efforts to improve patients' vision, overall function, and quality of life.
