Jacob Long Email and Phone Number
Hi! I'm Jacob Long, and I am a graduate student at Stanford University pursing a Ph.D. in Earth and Planetary Sciences. I am primarily focused on the permanent geologic storage of greenhouse gasses such as CO2 as a climate change mitigation tool. Geologic carbon storage (GCS) has the potential to dramatically abate CO2 emissions across the globe, especially if the scientific community, along with industry and government partners, are able to enhance and scale up needed technologies in the coming years. I am using my research to help move GCS forward by focusing on areas such as CO2-reservoir interactions, changes in pore-fluid pressure, CO2 plume migration, induced seismicity, carbonate mineralization, and passive seismic monitoring. According to a recent statement from the U.N. “Climate Change is the defining issue of our time, and we are at a defining moment.” Over the years, I’ve seen the causes of climate change and I’ve seen the consequences – both have made me profoundly determined to use my education, time, and talents finding solutions to our climate crisis.
