This business endeavor developed from a passion for adventure and coffee. A trip down to Mexico to explore caves, hike volcanoes, and tour the countryside turned into a seven-day coffee sourcing trip; 6 farms, and three states; Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Veracruz. Sample bags weighing 1 kilogram were shipped from farm to lab where each coffee was roasted and judged. This team of judges, alongside myself seen in the picture below, found multiple high ranking coffees at a score of 85, 86.4, and 87. After obtaining a DUNS number and an FDA approved raw coffee storage facility permit, we imported 2,400 pounds of coffee into the U.S. We imported two commercial coffee roasters ourselves by truck.Since crossing the coffee, there have been several challenges and experiences gained:- Financial strategizing and bookkeeping- Mastering the art of roasting coffee and bean development- Branding and web development- Acquiring a sellers permit, health permit (TFF), farmers market locations, and wholesale accounts- Building clientele and market strategies
