As a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) I’m a founding member of Clinical Training in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at UW Medicine. We specialize in specifically tailored technical training for our large organization. We help laboratorians navigate complex workflows, LIS integrations/updates, and many systems that support our labs’ operations. Additionally, our group contributes to many QA and QI initiatives, MediaLab user support, and advance new training technologies. As the Program Operations Specialist Developer, I’m the lead designer in our eLearning architecture in DLMP. As we grow with a department of 1,800+ staff we are challenged with modernizing and standardizing DLMP’s needs in technical training with original content. We create our materials and content with Articulate and Adobe Creative Cloud programs driven by our subject matter experts at the helm. I am nationally certified as a MLS by ASCP. My lab bench experience has a focus in Chemistry and Toxicology. However I value my generalist hospital experience too! In chemistry I gained advanced responsibilities and experience on Beckman Coulter instrumentation, trained in high complexity LC-MS/MS testing for Opiate analysis, Immunosuppressive Drugs, Methotrexate, and Anti-Fungal drugs. My generalist experience includes hematology and coagulation for STAT hospital operations. I’m fortunate enough to also have experience with method validation and research studies for Clinical Chemistry. Prior to my education at UW, I studied at UC Davis in California majoring in Biology, Molecular and Cellular Biology.
