I am a mechanical engineering student at NC State on a medical trajectory. I have always been passionate about the fields of mechanics and medicine and my original goal was to enter a field that had the best of both worlds. This spurred my original interest in mechanical engineering.As a mechanical engineering student, I have gained extensive experience in systems engineering, CAD, and project work. I have taken courses in Solidworks and Matlab, and through my senior design course I am familiar with the essentials of entrepreneurship, economics, and business management.As an intern at Siemens, I really learned to work with my hands. I got great experience with industrial engineering, as well as tool use and quality inspection. I also helped build and design switch-gear devices and became familiar with the operation of breakers and transformers.I currently work part-time at Lighthouse Engineering and mainly work in autoCAD designing HVAC systems for residential and commerical buildings. Through my work with Lighthouse I have gained exposure to all engineering aspects of MEP as well as the fundamentals of construction and civil engineering.In addition to my work as a mechanical engineer, my passions also include health science. I am studying to be an EMT and plan to work as a basic in the spring. I also plan to shadow in the fall and will begin studying for the MCAT later this year.Throughout my career as both an employee and a student I have always improved myself through my interactions with others. I am well aware of the importance of teamwork to any job, and have always prided myself in my communication skills, as well as my strong academic discipline and positive attitude.Among my greatest accomplishments are my involvement in designing the 27kV switch-gear system at Siemens inc, and designing the mechanical HVAC system for the Physical Sciences and Engineering Building at Yale University.
