Ghana

Worked with local cocoa farmers on ecofriendly practices such as natural insecticides and fertilizers. Nursed more than 80,000 cocoa trees, grown with no chemicals benefiting more than 500 farmers. Taught food security practices and the importance of fruits and vegetables in a diet. Showed how to grow simple vegetable gardens.

Cameroon, West/Central Africa

As a three year agriculture extension agent in Cameroon, West/Central Africa, Mr. Jacob Moore, engaged many activities in the realm of agriculture, HIV/AIDs, and malaria sensitization. A few of his projects include: writing a market garden manual, training 50 Cameroonians on improved gardening practices, and started a community garden spanning 5 villages. Mr. Moore’s secondary projects focused on HIV/AIDS sensitization and cross-cultural sharing between Americans and the culture of the Moghamo people. He wrote a project for World AIDS Day that also celebrated the American Holiday, Thanksgiving. The project covered three days beginning with a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Thirty Cameroonians celebrated Thanksgiving alongside 50 American volunteers sharing two cultures and culminated with an HIV/AIDS testing event bringing more than 400 participants both Cameroonian and American sharing their various cultures and testing 220 person for HIV.
