I knew from an early age that biomedical engineering would be a great fit for me. In school I found myself drawn to my science and math classes and as an athlete I was always interested in how my body functioned. The day I discovered biomedical engineering felt like finding those puzzle pieces that fit perfectly. This was further explored during my time at the University of Akron. Where I studied biomedical engineering, with a focus on biomechanics. While studying I also was a member of the University’s track and field team. I believe this combination of education and sport allowed me to develop as an aspiring biomedical engineer. As I studied about the connections between anatomy and engineering, I could also see them first hand in my athletic endeavors. At the University of Akron I spent time learning about biomechanics, and the world of medical device development. During my senior capstone project I worked with a team to patent a new medical device, using software such as SolidWorks, and coding language including Python. My athletic career at the University of Akron was all I could dream of. I chose to run at Akron because I wanted the opportunity to compete against some of the best in my sport. This competitive nature is why has driven me to accomplish all that I have so far. My achievements include:-2x All Mid-American Conference-3x Elected Team Capitan-7x Varsity Letter Winner-3x MAC Team Conference TitlesIn all my experience in school and competition have prepared me to take on any experience offered to me in the professional world.
