During my summer internship as a Civil Site Design Intern at Bolton and Menk in uptown Charlotte, I specialized in civil site design while also gaining exposure to diverse facets of civil engineering. My responsibilities encompassed supporting senior engineers with Civil 3D tasks, attending meetings, updating PDFs to reflect current revisions, and executing both pressure and sewer tests on-site. Additionally, an intern workshop provided me the opportunity to collaborate closely with landscape architects, researching properties and initiating a design for a museum and town hall in Matthews, NC. Outside of my primary duties, I occasionally assisted the landscape architects, broadening my experience into landscape architecture.

During the summer of 2022, I interned with Thomas Construction Group in Wilmington as part of their Summer Internship Program. My role provided a comprehensive exposure to construction, combining both office tasks and on-site fieldwork. I engaged with civil and mechanical drawings, contributed to procurement tasks like meeting minutes and submittals, and actively participated in on-site projects — from laying ceiling tiles to site cleanup. My hands-on experience expanded to operating heavy equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, street sweepers, mini excavators, and other machinery. This invaluable internship experience offered me a holistic view of the construction industry's operations.
