During my time in this role, I spent a considerable amount of time functioning as a Project Engineer. I was temporarily relocated to our California’s JunoPacific location (2/2022 – 4/2022) to help the team meet their quality, delivery, and lead-time challenges. The team and I identified and improved processes to affect these three areas. Since then, I have had the opportunity to improve our internal capabilities further by vetting out and selecting a radiography system for the long-term health of this project. While back in Minnesota, I worked with a team to reduce scrap rates and variability on our highest risk production line from 25% total scrap to less than 15% total scrap, saving an estimated $800,000 annually. I coached two manufacturing engineering interns for the summer of 2022 providing them feedback, opportunities to challenge themselves, and work-direction. I enjoy working with interns for the ability to 'give back' to the next generation of our leaders!As a Manufacturing Engineer II at JunoPacific, I worked on highly technical and difficult injection molding and assembly related issues in our headers department. The products I owned were worth hundreds of dollars, consuming many components, and subjected to niche molding and assembly challenges. I'm most proud of my efforts to resolve an adherance problem between the inserted components and the overlaying plastic, bringing the scrap rate of this failure mode from ~15% to less than 2%, saving more than $10,000 per shift.

The University of Minnesota partnered with St. Paul Partners to organize a number of engineering students to visit the Iringa region of Tanzania. We went there to take measurements, meet the occupants of a remote village and design them a custom water delivery system for the village of Mlanda. Upon our return to the United States, we presented the water delivery solution to a board of investors and inspired over $7,500 in donations during the midst of COVID-19 to implement the system back in Mlanda, bringing water to over 2,000 people.
