Cargill Inc. (2017 - 2022)Post graduation from UNL in 2017, I went to Salina, KS to begin training as a grain elevator production supervisor for Cargill Inc. In this role, I bounced to several locations including an antiquated facility in Kansas City, MO, a export terminal in Houston, TX, and a newer facility in Gibbon, NE where I oversaw operations until leaving the company in 2022. As a production supervisor my role varied some from location to location depending upon operations, but generally the tasks remained similar overall. I was in charge of overseeing and executing upon my team's daily activities ranging from grain handling/conditioning operations to maintenance tasks around the facility. I also handled the safety program at each site I was at, including training of new employees, keeping current crew members up to date, and implementing projects/process changes where hazards were identified. Grain handling operations depended upon the facility, but for the most part I dealt with truck unloading, rail unloading, rail loading, and ship loading down at the port. When shipping grain to customers via truck or rail, I had to ensure proper mix and blend practices to maximize facility revenue. Scheduling was another big component of my job at all locations, as it was expected of me to ensure the crew had a daily plan, an idea of what was coming in the week. A final task I oversaw was project management ranging from new construction of facility infrastructure, equipment, or safety features. It was this role that I found I particularly enjoyed as I worked alongside contractors from design phase to build and completion.Chief Construction and Revenant Demolition (2022 - Present)At the start of 2022, I decided to get my foot into the door of the construction industry by following up on a long-standing passion of mine to start my own demolition company, resulting in the creation of Revenant Demolition LLC. I steadily built up my business on the side focusing on selective interior demolition work for remodels. However, realizing I needed more experience in the industry than what I could teach myself, I was able to secure a role with Chief Construction as an assistant superintendent in July 2022. Upon starting, I was added to a $30 mlyn senior living community project in Grand Island, Tabitha, and in January 2023 was shifted to the $20 mlyn Regional Engagement Center build for UNK in Kearney. In this role I work daily with contractors to manage project schedule/coordination and have ample opportunities for hands on learning with the various trades.
