The most important skill I developed while serving as a teaching assistant was the ability to explain programming concepts to people with limited programming experience. For most students, Data Structures is the second programming class. I led recitation once a week for 8-15 students and explained concepts such as pointers, linked lists, trees, heaps, graphs, and polymorphism. Additionally I held office hours every week during which students could ask for help in a one-on-one setting. Other responsibilities of being a teaching assistant included grading exams and projects and, for one semester, writing the JUnit tests that were used when grading projects.

Led discussion for Calculus 3 (Math 265) and Introduction to Data Structures (Com S 228).Established an environment in which tutees brainstormed how to solve problems.

While at Kingland I was a member of a team of five working to implement a new feature; I helped write tests and reduced duplication in the planned database architecture. During my time with Kingland I learn about the importance of tooling like Gradle and Docker.

DealerBuilt taught me about how projects are structured. This was my first introduction to the idea of Agile Development which I learned about by attending and taking notes for the meetings of several teams. The idea of having sprints with daily standups influenced how I structured meetings when I became the president of the ballroom dance club. During my time there, Dealerbuilt relocated their offices, and I was tasked with keeping track of information pertaining to the move. This included updating the equipment inventory and identifying what would be needed at the temporary location. Also I kept track of contact information, meeting notes, and importunate dates relating to the move, such as when the electricity and internet would be connected.
