I assumed a full-time position (June-May) at one of Philadelphia’s most successful and highly reviewed farm-to-table fine-dining restaurants. Responsibilities include: creation of craft alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for ~80-200 nightly guests; serving bar guests through all steps of service including check and payment processing; maintaining accurate knowledge of dynamic cuisine and accompanying wine program; entertaining all guests as maître-d’ and facing representative of restaurant; stocking, preparing, and cleaning bar contents before during and after service; educating staff on alcohol and wine sales; supporting management oversight and workflow of dining room; creation of craft cocktail ingredients like flavored syrups, tinctures, bitters, juices and infused spirits; exceeding standards of service and guest satisfaction through vigilant promotion of Fork’s specific codes and techniques of service.

This program of study engaged the formal theoretical disciplines of Media Studies, Anthropology, Sociology, and Communication to offer a balanced scholarly survey of contemporary issues in the field using qualitative and quantitative research methods. As an interdisciplinary program, readings and course offerings emphasized a diversity of cultural scholars from across the Humanities and the Social Sciences—I focused on contextualizing technological change in the electronic music industry (composition, performance, and consumption), social networking, digital play, media effects, streaming services, and professional communication rhetoric through business consulting.
