Pratt Undergraduate Research FellowDuke Orthopedic Research Lab Jan 2015 - Aug 2016-Designed experiments to evaluate the properties of meniscus derived matrix and its potential for use in meniscus repair. -Performed biochemical assays and mechanical testing to evaluate scaffold remodeling and integration with native meniscus tissue in vitro, then analyzed the resulting data with Statistica. -Altered the repair model to improve mechanical testing results, and took initiative to automate failure analysis with Matlab.-Utilized histology and confocal imaging to evaluate cellular infiltration and tissue structure at the scaffold - tissue interface. -Through working closely with other lab members, identified a scaffold formulation that resulted in improved strength of repair compared to native meniscus tissue. -Co-authored an abstract selected for presentation at the ORS 2016 Annual Meeting, and given the Howard G. Clark award after presenting research findings to a department review board.
