May 2019 to February 2021 I spent as a student Naval Aviator. I attended Aviation Preflight Indoctrination classes learning the basics of aviation and being a pilot, Initial Flight Screening where I had the privilege to get multiple flights in a civilian aircraft to get a hang of flying, Primary Ground School being taught the ins and outs of the T-6b Texan II aircraft and more details on the rules and regulations of aviation, and finally 30+ hours of flight time behind the controls of the T-6b as well as many hours of classes and simulators.In February of 2021 my situation would change and I took a role as an Aviation Administration Officer teaching and leading young officers in the early stages of their flight careers. I lead check-in briefings in TW-5 and deal with paperwork and administrative issues behind the scenes of multiple hundred future aviators.

Working at Dick’s Sporting Goods, while in college, was a good opportunity to learn skills in the world of retail and customer service. I worked directly with the Federal Background Check System running background checks on firearm sales.

Blacksburg, Va

At this internship, I worked as an Engineer Intern in Blacksburg, VA. WDP does most of their work on the campus of Virginia Tech so I have been working on site whenever necessary. Working with Stone Masons and roofers on the exterior face of the new residential dormitory, I help to make sure everything is up to code and the stone correctly placed. I also work on helping to write daily reports of inspections to be sent to the owners detailing what has been done and the quality of the current work. I also spent time reviewing drawings and putting together spec books.

Rockville, Md

Working at multiple locations during this internship was very rewarding. I spent the first half of the internship working at Arlington National Cemetery on a new addition to the National Cemetery. This was extremely rewarding in the long run, learning what large scale government projects are like and what the traits of good leadership on a Construction Site are. I also felt especially privileged that I got to be apart of something helping veterans who served and sacrificed for our Nation.I spent the next part of the summer at the National Cathedral school in Northwest DC. I was put in charge of closeout documentation as well as working with subcontractors on the punch-lists. I got to learn a lot about communication skills and working with subcontractors to get the work done well and in a timely manner. While at Forrester, I was also able to take career development classes such as information programs on Steel, Concrete, and Preconstruction as well as techniques for working onsite.

I interned under the Superintendent and Project Manager at a Construction site, building 4 industrial park tilt-up buildings with a total of 400,000 square feet. This was my first real experience on an active construction site and I learned much more than in the classroom setting. Most of my time was spent relaying information to subcontractors and making sure that things around the site were running smoothly.
