I am an Engagement Worker on the Empower Oldham project. The project is based in the Careers Education and Guidance directorate - we facilitate skills development for participants in a number of key areas including careers, wellbeing, and by making external referrals for the pursuit of further learning, employability skills, or personal/social growth. As a team we support young people in moving towards entering education, employment, or training in ways bespoke to their unique needs and circumstances. I mentor NEET/ARON young people aged 15-19, care experienced young people up to age 21, and young people with EHCPs up to age 25. Through my work at Positive Steps I have gained experience in mentoring, youth and community work, multi-agency work, and working with vulnerable people and families. My role requires a thorough understanding of safeguarding and risk management, and I have undertaken varied CPD sessions including Trauma Informed Care training, ACEs training, and Prevent training.

I am a writer of both fiction and non-fiction, and I enjoy working across prose, poetry, and playwriting. My poetry and prose has been published, and I have had three pieces of original theatre staged. Examples of my writing and public appearances are available through my LinkTree site, on which I have listed my portfolio, my blog, and various links to published works and recorded performances.My recent work includes:- ‘Mother & Son’ - full length play performed at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.- ‘It Hurts to Become’ - poem published in The Cloudscent Journal.- ‘XX’ and ‘What If?’ - poems published in TransMuted Zine.- ‘Dead Name’ - creative-critical prose piece read to a live audience at Liverpool’s Tung Auditorium.My key interests include LGBTQIA+ themes, narratology, and writing for young adult to adult audiences. I have accrued extensive experience in research and academic writing through my time spent in higher education.
