This role has focused on designing and writing C and C++-embedded firmware for a diverse range of systems from medical devices, HVAC systems and entertainment systems. This role has been pivotal in developing and diversifying my engineering and professional skill set. Cumulus designs and manufactures hardware and software which act as diagnostic aids for the prediction and hopeful elimination of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Dementia. Their primary product is a wireless EEG (Encephalography) headset which interfaces with a mobile application which provides cognitive testing in the form of games while recording the electrographic signalling of the participant for analysis.In this role I have:- Contributed directly to the design of the T5 headset by testing a wireless gold pin sensor connection.- Designed and built a production-testing GUI using object-oriented Python, to automate laborious processes.- Designed and carried out validation protocols, conducted extensive testing and gained an understanding of the stringent testing and validation required for medical devices.- Completed documentation and carried out day-to-day Quality Assurance tasks, such as records for each EEG headset, preventative maintenance and calibration of production equipment.- Used agile methodology and JIRA software to create projects and tasks and an overview of the necessary steps to reach a deliverable.
