Investigated the environmental and geographical factors involved in the effects that riparian buffers have on stream quality in agricultural systems. Visited local farms to gather water and sediment samples, and to make on-site measurements of pH, alkalinity, etc. and take drone images. In the lab, analyzed the water samples for concentrations of chemicals (such as nitrite, nitrate, sulfate, chloride, etc.), and sediment for particle sizes and organic carbon composition. Developed digital elevation models from drone images and LiDAR point cloud data using ArcGIS Pro and Agisoft Metashape. Finally, ran multivariable linear regressions to predict stream quality values using environmental and geographic variables, among other sub-analyses, in R.
