I am a computational neuroscientist with a dual PhD in Informatics and Cognitive Science from Indiana University. I specialize in leveraging cutting-edge AI and machine learning techniques to solve complex problems in neuroscience, cognitive science, and beyond. My research spans:Connectomics: Applied network science and machine learning to analyze large-scale neuroimaging datasets, including developing new tools for streamlining these analyses (e.g. see first author paper published in Nature Communications).Computational Neuroscience: Modeled brain circuits using recurrent neural networks (RNNs) and explored solutions to classic systems neuroscience tasks using dimensionality reduction, network science, and dynamical systems theory.In addition to biological modeling, I am passionate about AI interpretability and explainability, a critical challenge for the future of advanced AI systems. By coarse-graining the behavior of neural networks (biological and artificial), I uncover the mechanisms that drive complex systems and develop actionable insights to improve system performance and trust. Recently, I've worked on training generative AI models such as transformer models, stable diffusion models, and variational autoencoders. Currently, I am developing a novel text-to-behavior model for robotic control, which leverages principles from stable diffusion to enable robots to plan and execute complex actions based on natural language goals. This project combines my expertise in generative modeling with a passion for solving challenging, interdisciplinary problems that blend AI and real-world applications.My journey began in philosophy, where I developed skills in analytical thinking, logic, and problem-framing. These abilities fueled my transition into computational neuroscience, where I taught myself advanced mathematics, and machine learning to complete a dual PhD in Informatics and Cognitive Science. Today, I leverage my unique interdisciplinary perspective to tackle complex problems in AI and machine learning, blending creativity with technical expertise.I am excited to bring my expertise to industry, tackling difficult, often ill-posed problems in data science, machine learning, network science, and AI. Whether it's building models, developing tools, or analyzing patterns in large datasets, I thrive on breaking down complex challenges into manageable, solvable pieces that drive impactful outcomes.
