About Jacob Tessema

Hi, my name is Jacob Tessema, and I'm from Boston, MA. I'm an incoming freshman at Boston University, class of 2028, majoring in computer engineering. I am interested in pursuing work as a hardware engineer and I'm passionate about understanding how computers are made and being a part of building new generations of computer parts. I'm excited to find opportunities that will allow me to explore cutting-edge research and development in computer hardware.I have built custom computer systems for myself, my family, and my friends, which has deepened my love for the evolution of technology. I have professional experience teaching at Kumon, working as a Data Activist at MIT, and bias in voice assistants at Tufts University. These roles have sharpened my ability to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges. I have some knowledge of coding languages such as Python and JavaScript, and I aim to further develop my skills in data analysis and technical report writing. In my free time, I'm a casual athlete, playing volleyball, basketball, soccer, and football. I also enjoy watching the NBA, with my favorite player being Stephen Curry, despite being from Boston.
