I have been an entrepreneur since the age of 10. As a child it started with sports trading cards, and as I became a teenager, I moved on to specializing in computers and IT. I was instantly motivated to profit off this knowledge. At the age of 15 I was building and parting computers for small profits via Kijiji and eBay as well as repairing and assisting locals who needed help IT related. Two years ago, I found a new entrepreneurial hobby which was clothing and shoes. After buying and selling designer items the same way I did computers for about a year, I was able to form a successful business page on Instagram in only a few months. Today my Instagram page has over 4,000 followers and has assisted me greatly in paying for my tuition fees.First and foremost, school has taught me how to work confidently and efficiently in a team-based environment. I have found myself taking more of a leadership role since enrolling at Conestoga College, always ensuring my group has a “plan of attack” for the task assigned. I have also acquired new technological skills such as knowledge in AutoCAD, Revit, Primavera P6 and the ability to create energy models through Insight BIM 360. Apart from the technological advances in my skills, I have also attained a great knowledge and expertise of buildings. One example of this would be knowing which structural system is best for a particular building plan. Another example is my ability to perform load calculations for steel and concrete spanning systems.I have shown exceptional customer service in the fields I have worked in. The steel manufacturing, food processing, and retail industries have enabled me to achieve incredible customer service skills, flexibility with the type of work I’m able to do. I deliver high efficiency in my work, independently or in a team. I am Currently working 12-hour shifts at Taylor Steel which prepares me for any length workday in the future of my career. The variety of industries I have worked in, paired with my business mindset, and Bachelor Degree in Applied Technology from Conestoga College, makes me a prominent candidate for a diverse range of job types.
