Through this internship experience I worked on a real world project involving a Solar Vehicle Team through Appalachian State University. My responsibilities involved taking raw survey data through the preparation, management, and analysis stages to the preparation of results and recommendations. I was also responsible for extensive communication with the client to ensure a successful analysis. The main objective for my position was to perform various analysis techniques on the survey data in hopes to find commonalities amongst solar racing teams. These analysis results would be distributed to various teams in hopes of growing the overall sport and lowering the entry barrier. The skills that I worked on through this internship involved the use of various analytical techniques while utilizing software including Excel and SAS. More importantly the skill that I focused the most on was communication. I constantly was holding meetings, sending emails, and conducting phone calls with the client to ensure that the analysis remained on track and ended with a viable result that Solar Vehicle Team could use to increase the knowledge of the overall sport of solar racing.
