My role at HNTB was to assist with roadway drainage design and plan sheet production. I worked on many projects during my internship that helped me learn how to work more efficiently with other, how to have independence within my projects, and how to learn many different engineering tools and applications.A few of my major projects included a culvert and ditch design analyzation. In this project, I was tasked to size a ditch and culvert based on the flow from the surrounding area. I completed this task by using AutoCAD arial map to understand my landcover type, HydroCAD to get my storm hydrograph, HY-8 to preform my culvert design, and Flowmaster to create a deep enough ditch based on the year storm event. Another project required me to perform a spread analysis on an existing six-mile roadway segment. This task required me to create inlets, pipe networks, and gutter networks using various road as-builts. After preforming the spread analysis on each segment, I further investigated the site to ensure if there were any outliers in the spread due to errors. Lastly, I worked on utility plan sheet production and revision using Bluebeam. This task required creating sheets of existing and proposed utility linework for various road segments of the project. Throughout this task, I learned how to better use AutoCAD to create plan sheets, how to revise plans after submittal comments, and work with others to problem solve issues. Overall, HNTB taught me real life applications of drainage and hydraulics and how they preform quality work within their company in Wisconsin.

Greenbay

At TetraTech, I worked in a variety of roles. I was first an on-site CQA surveyor for landfill liner projects. My tasks were to work alongside other employees and contractors to file surveying data from the job site. During my time on-site, I worked to record liner placement, welding data and testing, surveying points, and any damages found.After this project, I worked from the soil lab within the Greenaby office as a soil lab technician. My tasks were to assist the main team with soil testing and recording. During this time, I learned the many properties of soil and was successful in performing the various tests: moisture content, Atterbergs, clay hydrometers, specific density, sieves readings, and proctors.The final project I worked on was an individual project on a clay borrow site. For five weeks, I worked with contractors to ensure that the clay being excavated was not topsoil or sandy mix. During this time,I was taked to write daily reports, record imagery, take soil samples, and survey the borrow pit.

Neenah, Wisconsin, United States

Worked landscaping and cleanup for the city of Neenah Parks and Recreation. Many of our projects required great teamwork between the fulltime and part-time employers. During my time, I became a leader for the younger part-time workers and took charge of fine details, and made sure we stayed on schedule during our tasks. Many projects that I worked on this summer included line trimming, mulching, hand weeding, and spraying, garbage collection, and maintenance of baseball fields.

Private landscaping for the retirement homes of Memorial park condominiums of Neenah. Tasks include opening, cleaning, and closing the pool, mowing housing complexes, hedge trimming, raking and leaf blowing, painting and staining, and cleaning and organizing basements. Worked as a team of three and collaborated to complete our daily jobs.
