I miss how life felt when I was a young kid, because I didn’t care or notice how much I didn’t fit in with my peers, and I was still so eager to learn. I was just a natural self-starter, and I was quick to pick up on new concepts and ideas. In fact I don’t really recall when I first learned about dinosaurs and astronauts, I know I had to have at some point but all I remember is my dad taking me out into the wild since I was a small child to catalogue and rehabilitate local wildlife and watching all of the educational television programming I could.I also recall very vividly when I was a four year old boy and my father sat me on his lap, gifted me an original Fisher Space Pen and told me and I quote “Son you are in the mile high club.”I was four years old then, somehow he didn’t notice I could already read and write and so he wasn’t just giving me this space pen to a kid who had no idea how to put a pen to good use.In fact I don’t recall when I could not read or write, however I know I actually have Steven Spielberg’s E.T. to thank primarily more than my parents who were totally oblivious to the fact their four year old kid could already read and write, because it is the only film that has ever put me through all the motions and it’s only done so stronger the older I’ve gotten.I’m really quite happy that I didn’t grow up in Colorado Springs close to my family with everything that goes along with that . I imagine I would have been a very different from the person I am in ways I wouldn’t like. That me wouldn’t have endured the things I have and would probably be a real jerk with very little to no self awareness, instead of spending 19 years as a dedicated media reform activist just to do my own version of a stunt my grandfather once pulled off when he met my grandmother and convinced her he was just a cook at a restaurant. Quite the irony that the USAF Academy opened on April Fools day and apparently had a top pay grade job just for my grandpa.I always had a plan and I told nobody in explicit detail what that plan was except my screenwriting teacher and a certain former professor of Philosophy at MIT who is basically the most famous teacher alive. I’ve been turning in my homework to them for nineteen years. Little do they know, it was all just an elaborate scheme to popularize adults spending most of their free time at the library. By the way did you know you can obtain the equivalent education of a four year college degree at your local library? True story. Ask me about it sometime.
