This role involves working to advise and mainstream health considerations into all mayoral strategies & policies​, working with external partners to raise awareness about the Mayor’s health priorities & aligning efforts to maximise the benefit for Londoners.The Public Health Unit works with colleagues across the GLA & the organisations in the wider GLA Group (TfL, MOPAC, Fire commissioner etc.). This role focuses on achieving ‘Health In All Policies’ by supporting these organisations with insight, advice & impetus to embed health across all manner of GLA Group activities.Day to day this involves supporting, informing & influencing policy & strategy across the wide ranging sectors & factors that affect health, including housing, transport, environment, employment, community safety, discrimination, & poverty.

Switchboard is a charity for LGBTQ people looking for community, support or information. Set up in 1975, they have been supporting LGBTQ communities across Sussex and beyond for 50 years. Originally a helpline, Switchboard now offer over a dozen frontline projects and services.As CEO I provided strategic & operational oversight. During my time at Switchboard we grew exponentially; serving 5000 individuals every year, more than doubling our capacity, our turnover & our geographical reach. During my time in post, the quality of Switchboard's services were recognised with numerous prestigious awards including from The Kings Fund, GSK, The Royal Society for Public Health, & Alzheimer's Europe.

My focus as governor is on ensuring that the services and overall direction of the Trust relate to the needs of the local communities. I support the strategic priorities of the trust (below) by holding directors to account and providing scrutiny as well as creative ideas and leadership in areas relevant to my role. Population Health. Quality Improvement. Patient Experience. Thriving Staff. Value and SustainabilityI was appointed by the trust as governor in order to focus on the needs of children and young people in their services, due to my work in this area with YMCA, Healthwatch, Public Health etc.

This role involved working with the Government Equalities Office to launch and deliver an exciting national pilot that aims to make a difference to the experiences and outcomes of LGBT patients in primary care. I lead a team to engage with and support primary care services across Greater London to develop their clinical practice, policies and cultures in order to better hear and meet the needs of their LGBT patients. I was also responsible for identifying and advancing opportunities for growth and partnership working, including the development of a bespoke programme for sexual health and maternity settings.The pilot far exceeded initial targets, engaging over 450 primary care services in a training, quality assurance and social prescribing model and award programme. This role requires the ability to influence, evidence, and deliver impact on a local, regional and national scale. As project manager l built supportive relationships and partnerships across Greater London in the VCS, Health, and Public Sector - working closely with STP's, CCG's, Public Health Departments, and Health and Wellbeing Boards. This role also involves working closely with NHSE, government, and regulatory bodies like GMC, RCGP, and CQC to influence conversations around key healthcare issues such as cancer screening, care pathways, PrEP, bridging prescriptions, data monitoring, and IT systems.

Founded in 2016 by two NHS clinicians, TEDxNHS is the world’s largest TEDx event license holder – representing the 1.5 million people who work across health and social care. Organised by the NHS for the NHS, TEDxNHS operates on a fully not for profit basis, with a multidisciplinary team of volunteers, made up of NHS staff from across the UK.In 2019 I had the pleasure of speaking at The O2 about health inequalities, and how good data collection can bolster patient-centred care.

My role with YMCA's Right Here project involved leading numerous exciting strands of work with a focus on young people, public health & prevention. -Working under the remit of Brighton & Hove CCG to conduct regular community consultations, & find creative & effective solutions to healthcare issues & barriers faced by young men, particularly those who are underrepresented in services and/or research.- Providing the 'Young Healthwatch' provision for Brighton & Hove - including enter and view visits, consultations, engagement projects and events, and reports. - A Healthwatch commissioned project, working to improve mental health provision within primary care citywide; through research & audits, recommendations, consultation, training, & the development of resources for patients and professionals.- Overseeing and facilitating the creation and delivery of a range of projects in and with secondary schools as part of the Public Health Healthy Schools Programme.- Working with young people and professionals on a range of short-term health-promotion projects from short films to events and campaigns such as #IAmWhole.This position involved leading varied health engagement projects, working with & motivating large and diverse teams of volunteers over long-term projects, promoting the projects across the city, influencing local decision makers, achieving multiple layers of positive outcomes, & delivering results for commissioners & stakeholders."Jacob has flair for working collaboratively, creatively and thoughtfully to bring stakeholders and young people on side to produce work of an exceptional high quality. This committee includes multiagency and community membership, and will work with partners to oversee the development of a prioritised three year action plan in response to the recommendations published in the 2015 Brighton & Hove City Council Trans Needs Assessment (part of the city’s Joint Strategic Needs Assessment). Following the findings of the JSNA, I developed and led a cross-sector quality assurance and training kitemark based on a 'hub and spoke' style partnership model of LGBT organisations. I felt this was a clear way of tying solutions together and ensuring improvements were owned by the community, consistent, and that best practice was shared between healthcare, policing, VCS, and private business.

Training and consulting on a freelance basis in a range of accredited and non-accredited courses with a focus on Health Promotion and Equality & Diversity in a range of sectors, including primary care, secondary care, specialist health settings, corporate settings and third sector. This role involves writing bespoke training packages and supporting ongoing health inclusion projects in small and medium sizes businesses and organisations.

Following on from my project management, writing, and SEO work, I was contracted to assist with various elements of campaigns and projects within the Not for Profit, Charity, and Public sector, as well as for corporate clients.My experience in volunteer coordination, facilitation, project planning and management, campaigns, marketing, and communications has equipped me with a broad skill set. This has allowed me to find creative solutions, and contribute to positive outcomes in a variety of ways.I am a results driven individual, enjoy working with a diverse range of stakeholders and service users, and thrive when working alongside community organisations and local government to affect positive change in society.

I spent several years working as a part-time freelance writer, producing high quality content for a breadth of websites, blogs, and businesses. I also produced journalistic work for a variety of publications.With my strong background in online marketing and SEO, I had a number of loyal returning clients, and have proven myself to be an engaging writer with a high conversion rate and an excellent turn of phrase.

Working to budget with a coalition of various community groups, volunteers, and employees I was appointed to oversee a state-wide, community-led campaign from its planning stages. The 'What Makes an Ally' campaign included engaging and consulting with the Trans & Gender Diverse community, organising workshops, planning media (including web based materials), employing necessary professional services, organising a launch event, distribution, and reporting.This campaign had a number of deliverables, primarily being the production of 60,000 posters and postcards to distribute to target organisations, areas, networks, and individuals. Alongside this final target we put an emphasis on employing and up-skilling those with lived experience in the stages of campaign development. The main campaign was concluded with a technical publication and a very well attended campaign launch event.

The working group steers and directs all of the activities undertaken by ZBGC, with a strong focus on progressing toward a community gender centre. In the meantime ZBGC supports sex and gender diverse people through other means such as campaigns, online resources, events, and so on.I was appointed to the working group with a view to contribute to the renewed communication and marketing efforts of the organisation.

Broad general responsibilities include online marketing; email marketing and SEO (Paid & Organic). Using Saleforce,Google Adwords and Analytics, Buzzstream, link building, reporting, writing copy, and managing directories, social media accounts, other paid accounts, and blogs.

This elected position was to a National Union of Students Liberation Committee, as a representative officer. It is the largest organisation of it’s kind in Europe. Sitting on this committee requires extensive relevant voluntary experience, high levels of motivation, planning, and campaign, event, and workshop co-ordination. It also requires a strong online presence, great communication, public speaking, PR skills, and a great work ethos.

I was a member of the editorial team 2011-12. This role meant working to tight deadlines for a vast readership, producing a high-quality weekly newspaper. It also involved proofreading, good co-operation, task delegation, leadership and management skills. I received a special commendation for my editorial work at the annual awards ceremony, and also the award for 'Best Photographer'.I have also worked for UK student music magazine/website ‘Example’ as a writer/photographer.

Ensuring the Students' Union was a diverse and representative body, I worked to ensure all students voices were heard, drafting proposals and lobbying for various changes, including an estranged students fund. I also facilitated communication between students and the Union, ensuring students understood what the Union was, how it affected them, and how they could make change. I sat on the Union Council, making, debating and deciding policy.

This role required me to work with PR representatives from a partnership of leading charities including Oxfam, Amnesty International, Women for Women and membership organizations, supported by partners in arts and entertainment. Here I was required to help to collate ideas, events, and projects. I also dealt with digital progress reports, press releases, target media developments, and promotional material, and was able to have an input in the forms of media and promotion used by the coalition. This responsibility not only vastly improved my experience with PR and Marketing, but also with communication, correspondence, admin, and large project work.
