One such project was the development of the Blast Event Analysis and Reporting System (BEARS) using a multi-core 16-bit embedded processor. Jacob developed an event driven UML state chart based architecture to handle acquisition of acceleration data at a selectable rate of 40/100 KHz while simultaneously monitoring the data for a detected blast event. Detected events were then stored in nonvolatile flash for retrieval and analysis through a CANbus interface.

The satellite successfully launched into orbit on November 22, 2010 with a follow-up satellite on October 31, 2011. -
