Strategic Sourcing is an in-house consulting department, supporting business units within the Maersk Group on strategic sourcing initiatives. The department works on a project basis and delivers a structured sourcing process, analytical support, project management capabilities, and negotiation expertise to the business units - effectively assisting them in reducing costs and maximizing value together with suppliers.During my tenure I worked on projects for multiple business units within the Group; Maersk Line, Maersk Drilling, and Dansk Supermarked. The projects varied significantly in nature and size, from large CAPEX projects up to 1 bn USD to strategic OPEX re-negotiations and tenders.
