Co-Op
CurrentDuring my co-op at Asymmetric I did a variety of things. I spent some time sourcing parts and contacting companies to get information about their products. I helped with testing a variety of hardware. But I spent most of my time working on two main projects. First I worked on customizing a linux operating system for a SoC that controls unmanned air vehicles. Specifically, I worked on compiling drivers and the linux kernel its self to fill the requirements of the project. I also worked on a software suite to interpret, analyze and visualize data from a distributed acoustic sensor system. I worked on the project from the very beginning up until an implementation of the software which has most of the features that the software will be released with. Specifically, I worked the low level C++ code that interprets the data from the sensor, preforms math on the data, and distributes the data to other parts of the software. I also did a lot of the work on the software's GUI and other parts of the software written in python. I learned a lot about software development other than just the actual coding its self. I learned about working in a small software team, communicating ideas and issues, and managing source code.I currently work on the project remotely for a few hours a week.
