In the 3rd party logistics industry it is the duty of the Business Development Representative to source new companies within the marketplace that qualify as prominent shippers, and subsequently build a relationship with that company. In order to accomplish this, the BDM must have thick skin and a passionate work ethic. Day to day tasks include: cold calls to new prospects, check-in calls to current leads and accounts in order to win new business, and staying up to date with all these tasks through Salesforce.

Coaching basketball is a position that requires constant focus and quick, confident decision making. This job can test your patience, as well as your ability to handle stress in a fast-paced environment. During practices I would guide players through drills, provide feedback/advice, and critique form. The games would prove to be test of how well we prepared as a group. Regardless of wins and losses, each game gave our team something to learn from. As someone who loves the game of basketball, this was a very enjoyable experience for me.

In this position I had an opportunity to work for a local country club and learn the basics of event management. Many of my day-time hours were spent bartending and serving on the outdoor patio, but I would also bartend at larger scale events like weddings. Towards the end of the summer I worked with the catering coordinator on floor plans and event setup, which taught me more about club management.
