During my internship at Avanade I had the opportunity to dive into big data and how to manipulate it into useful information to produce better results and save money. The first client project included utilizing Microsoft Power BI in order to extract valuable information from a large dataset and visualize the important details. The goal in this task was to gain a better understanding of the location of the clients tech resources and the operating systems in order to formulate the best next plan of action. The second client project was divided into two parts. The first project was to implement Dask machine learning functions in order to reduce the runtime of Sci-Kit Learn machine learning functions by parallelizing the tasks. By introducing Dask functions to the previous code the runtime was reduced by 16%. The second project used Databricks and Python, along with Matplotlib, Bokeh, and ggplot packages to create a versatile and continuous system to analyze trends in transmission equipment. The product of this project was a flexible and user friendly system that could track the trends of any variables over the course of years for any equipment line in the company.

As the Philanthropy Chair, I focused on the spread of engineering awareness through hosting community events, organizing community service volunteering opportunities, and fundraising for engineering organizations. These events include E-Day, short for Engineering Day, where the Student Engineers' Council performed experiments for 600 young students at an elementary school in College Station. Other events include BUILD, Angle Tree, Habitat for Humanity, Big Event, and planning the SEC Winter Formal.

During my summer internship at Motiva Enterprises LLC I used historic unplanned downtime data from 2003-2018 to focus on reoccurring problem areas that could be a major loss of profit, to set priorities for business plan development in North Americas largest refinery. Additionally, I worked on improving existing pump status sheet system to enable prioritized maintenance of 2,500 pumps to reduce risk of unplanned slowdowns and/or shutdowns.

Worked with design engineers and technicians to research, assemble, and test new subsea safety equipment. Working on the R&D team, I was able to perform endurance, torsion, bending, high temperature, low temperature, and high pressure tests on well head connectors. Gained plentiful experience working with my hands, seeing designs from a user standpoint, and collaborating with different parties to produce high quality products.
