As one of two shift leaders within the Paper & Board division, working closely with a Production Supervisor, it is my responsibility to ensure that the production schedules and quality standards are adhered to at all times. Where before my main focus was the operation of the Sheeting Machine, it now covers all aspects of the production process. From the safe selection and loading of materials onto our FOSBER Link, the smooth operation and accuracy of the Sheeter, the correct and safe palletisation of the product and finally the storage & loading for delivery. It is on my shoulders, working as part of an amazing team, to ensure that all standards are met. It is a role that requires me to be extremely versatile in order to provide assistance and offer my support wherever needed within the production unit. In the same breath I am also accountable for any issues that arise.Due to an injury, I also have experience in the office based and more customer facing roles within the SPB arm, receiving and processing customer orders, answering queries and ensuring that all transactions are logged and accounted for with extreme precision. All of the above aspects of my role require me to maintain and build on a number of my key skills and strengths, My meticulous eye for detail, my high drive and work ethics, my "people skills" including communication with key stake holders within the business and confidence in my ability to make difficult decisions under pressure.

At SM Fireworks I assist on a number of different jobs ranging from small to large 'pyro-musicals'​ (Fireworks show to music), birthday and wedding displays and on movie sets. For these jobs I participate in the initial creation, checking and wiring of the effects and then the installation as part of a small team. Following this I am then involved in the live-firing of said effects at selected events.One example of movie work is my involvement with specialist pyrotechnics, for example Naphthalene charges and smoke bombs, on the low-budget move ('Money Kills'​). We have also done work on a demo for 'Pot Noodle'​ and multiple war-simulation paintball events. I have also been responsible for site safety, ensuring that members of the public remain safe and clear of any danger zones. This includes safety instruction to site security staff, where people can and cannot go, and also measurement of 'fall out/safety'​ zones which are areas again barred from public access.This role is more of an extended hobby or interest which rarely impacts other job/s. It is a role which offers a different challenge every time as each client has different tastes, but where safety and trust is paramount. Confucius said "choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life" and this certainly fits that category.
