I have been a public high school social studies teacher for the last seven school years at a Title One school. During this time, I have taught advanced courses such as Advanced Placement United States History and Cambridge International History. While being a teacher of advanced and regular courses, I have successfully been able to manage a room of thirty young adults with varying personality traits while preparing them to pass their exams and move on to the next level in education. Being a teacher has allowed me to develop strong communication skills that I use on a daily basis, with young adults and peers alike. Learning and maintaining these communication skills has granted me the opportunity to successfully work with a team to develop and implement data driven lesson plans. I also independently developed brand new curriculum for two challenging elective courses during the 2021-2022 school year.I have also been invited to prepare presentations on effective lesson planning methods for my peers in small group settings and at the school district office for several large audiences. These presentations often included demonstrations with computer technology and paper-based models. Some presentations were prepared and executed independently and others with a team of peers.Being able to pursue my passion for teaching for the last seven years has proven that I have a strong work ethic, communication skills, management abilities, and that I am a highly-motivated professional. I look forward to putting all of these skills to use in future opportunities in a new career.
