FoodMesh is a startup company that seeks to reduce food waste by providing a technical solution to businesses. This solution is B2B and allows them to post surplus food products and sell them at a reduced price. My role with FoodMesh, touches almost every part of this system. I aide in designing of new pages, planning of the latest features, fixing any existing bugs, maintaining open communication, testing of the software, and deployment of the software. I have been stretched and pulled at this company and have learnt so much more than I would have had I not been given the opportunity to jump into new roles as needed. As a Co-Op student at Powerex my daily duties consisted of providing support on existing applications to either resolve errors or implement new features. A major project I worked on was migrating databases from SQL 2008 to SQL 2014, this involved planning, writing documentation for others to use, and also implementing the step-by-step guide myself or helping other co-workers. The daily duties for my first Co-Op position were spent gathering, organizing, and reporting data using Google Analytics, which allowed the marketing team to examine the relationship between their website and the users using their website. I provided support on updates to the BC Liquor Stores application and website releases by creating user based scenarios to conduct tests and then reported all bugs using an online ticket system. After one month I was offered to extend my Co-Op term for a total of 8 months and during my time here I was consistently commended on exceeding expectations and even received recognition in the weekly bulletin for being an integral member of team project, which was successfully launched. This team project started in my second term and I was responsible for updating the daily Kanban chart, retrieving and recording team member hours, and be present in daily SCRUMS and weekly meetings.
