I earned a Bachelor's of Arts in Spanish as a Second Language and a Bachelor's of Arts in Political Science with a tract in International Relations. I am fluent in Spanish, after studying it for eight years and counting. My linguistic capacity has constituted an integral component of my profession in a wide variety of fields, including for various non-profits, at construction sites, in educational settings, in sales and financing, as well as manufacturing. I have interpreted, translated, and generally conducted any ordinary duties in my second language–it makes me an indispensable asset in the workplace.Coinciding with my bilingual capability, I am an excellent communicator (in both languages). As part of a study-abroad program in Ecuador, I wrote an extensive research paper analyzing the lexical and grammatical anomalies that characterize the dialect of Spanish spoken in Ecuador's capital, Quito, concentrating on its dialectical relationship with Kichwa, the variant of Quechua spoken in the same region. The project cited evidence from existing research as well as interviews conducted personally with Spanish-speakers from various countries. This exercise in written and oral communication allowed me to thrive in previous roles; as sales representative for instance, where I sold furniture to English- and Spanish-speaking clients, alike. My duties entailed cold calls, negotiation, financing, insurance filing, and interpreting applicants' interviews.Later, as an ESL instructor for Eastern High School, I provided bilingual support to EL high schoolers in their classes as well as co-taught their ESL classes. I managed the enrollment of Latino students and the communications with Spanish-speaking parents, both interpreting conversations and communicating directly regarding disciplinary actions, credit-recovery programs, and grades. Upon request from a parent, I translated a 1200-word website detailing the process to enroll in a home-school program. Finally, at my most recent job as production supervisor and quality assurance manager for Pap's Beef Jerky, communications was crucial. I led a team of Latino laborers, providing them with direction and support, during daily production as well as in communication with the plant manager and owners. I handled employee onboarding, training, scheduling, and disciplinary actions. Additionally, I maintained and updated all HACCP documentation, and co-authored SQF documentation required for certification. My colleagues describe me as passionate, articulate, and above all else, attentive to detail.
