As the Lead Software Engineer for BI. I specialized in helping make customized reports for school districts in the DnA product with Jaspersoft.

I had the privilege to work with Dr. Aguilar, and others who worked tirelessly to improve learning for kids, despite great adversity.

As a co-founder of Highlands Community Charter School, I was part of an amazing team, in which we built an adult-serving charter school to "serve the unserved", with a focus on former high school dropouts and also immigrants who don't have a U.S. high school diploma; providing academic, life skills, and career technical education to students.My work developed the systems of the school (policies, procedures, technology, etc.) that support the long-term viability of the organization and supports society by helping students gain the knowledge and skills that allows them to pull themselves out of poverty. These systems continue to support the school's goal of being cost-neutral to the tax payers, such that the savings in social benefit costs (welfare payments, unemployment insurance) along with social justice costs (incarceration, parole/probation) in addition to increases in tax revenue from higher paying jobs, and the future benefit from their children escaping a cycle of poverty, is greater than the cost of the school.My role with the school supported several key areas:* Leading the Information Technology Department* Doing all advanced data work and analysis* Being the primary IT and Enterprise Architect* Coordinating the Academic Department, including at times ELD (ESL)* Supporting Accreditation and Quality Improvement* Drafting Policies and Procedures to Optimize Education* Ensuring Regulatory Compliance* Grant Writing

As a Professor, taught three sections of Spreadsheet Essentials (COMPAPP123). I also was a member of the Quality Student Feedback team, developing guidelines for faculty about providing feedback to students. In addition, similar to my previous career with Twin Rivers, I performed institutional research, with my major project being on to understand online retention rates, and I also automated several processes through the use of advanced spreadsheets and VBA programming.My time with Heald was brief, because the work I had done to start Highlands Community Charter School finally came through, and so I left Heald... This was fortuitous because a few months later, Heald closed down... I believe that was a shame, because while I was no fan of Corinthian (Heald's parent company), I think the Heald system of colleges was trying to do what was right for students, and it was a sad ending for a college that had started in the 1800's, and had a proud legacy, and got caught up in the problems caused by Corinthian.

With Twin Rivers Adult School (and formerly Grant Adult Education), I was active in a variety of roles, including leadership of the Career Technical Education Department, leader of the Technology Action Team, Federally designated Chief Financial Aid Director , and Accreditation Liaison. I also taught adult school students (2001-2013) and led professional development for teachers and staff. Subject matter included beginning through advanced level courses: computer literacy, Microsoft Office, educational technology, health informatics, technician training, software & database development / programming, and leadership.I was the primary database technician and lead user support technician for the school, including using data science methods (2003-2013) to understand and improve education, including the use of web scrapers, ad-hoc queries and reports in ASAP & AERIES , and advanced spreadsheets for statistical analysis.

I was a founding employee of Psyberware, which was the first Internet service provider in Placer County. During my time with the company, I worked doing both phone support, and also in-person support, and managed the support department. After leaving the company, I was asked to be on their board of directors, where I served as treasurer for a year.

As a technical support representative, I assisted customers who were generally blind or visually impaired, to solve their computer problems over the telephone. Products I supported included screen readers and braille displays.
