With a background in history, museum studies, and library and information science, my professional public history focus is on Michigan history, local history, and genealogy. I am the Photo Archivist and an Educator at the Michigan State Capitol in the Capitol Tour, Education, and Information Service. Aside from general Michigan history, my historical interests include social and cultural history, in such topics as politics, agriculture, labor, corporate and business histories, sports history, popular culture, and more. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History from Michigan State University with a minor in the Museum Studies program in December 2017. My education continued at Wayne State University, where I earned a Master of Library and Information Science in August 2021.I have successfully developed skills and a reputation in the areas of scholarly historical research and collection, reference, and exhibition work. My scholarly research on Michigan Legislative printing was published in the MSU Undergraduate Journal of History in 2017. My research and interest in early Michigan and Lansing photography has received much attention and praise for its accuracy and expansion on existing scholarship. "Capturing the Capitol," my work on noted Lansing photographer J.H. Scotford was published by the Historical Society of Michigan in 2023. Furthermore, my local history based endeavors have led to the erection of a Michigan Historical Marker in 2018 for John Taylor, a mid-Michigan lynching victim. The subsequent article "Reckoning With a Troubled Past: The John Taylor Lynching" garnered the Historical Society of Michigan's State History Award for Best Chronicle Article. In the realm of local history, I have researched and presented on numerous topics. Frequent topics on which I am consulted, write, and present are: Greater Lansing photographic history, mid-Michigan dairy farm history, histories of Holt and Delhi Township, Michigan State University and Spartan Marching Band history, and more. I firmly believe that organizations thrive through collaboration and I have participated in library-historical society partnerships, which mutually strengthen both organizations. I have also participated in digitization projects and successfully utilized social media to market local historical organizations, using social media to bring local history to audiences that typically would not gravitate to historical topics.

The practicum yielded two focused reports geared to specific audiences, one to CADL's administration and another to the City of Mason administration. A grant proposal was written to further the digitization of the collection in the future. It was placed on file, submitted in 2023, and successfully led to the digitization of a decade (1970-1979) of the Ingham County News. -

Student Collections AssistantMsu Museum Jan 2017 - Dec 2017East Lansing, MichiganUndergraduate collections assistant in the history and culture collections at the MSU Museum following an internship in Fall 2016. In this capacity, I processed an incoming collection related to the Spartan Marching Band. The bulk of my time as a student collections assistant was spent cleaning up the museum's archives - handling thousands of objects to update their catalog entry including descriptions, subject tags, and locations. As items had been added and moved over the years, they were not updated in the catalog. This work assigned permanent locations of archival boxes to numbered shelving, and assigned numbers to boxes, in order to designate a specific location (shelf and box numbers) to be added to the catalog. Archival collections included MSU history, Michigan history, and assorted other collections, including Worlds Fairs, holidays, postcards, photographs, and more. Additionally, I rehoused some small object collections, including Victorian tortoiseshell combs. My work also included physical cleaning of shelving and storage areas, aiding in the museum's reaccreditation site visit by the AAM. -

I ultimately produced a finding aid of the marching band collection.
