A people person engineer who has touched every piece of the tech stack - from PCB design and debugging to writing Kubernetes deployments. I fall in love with projects, not technologies, which has left me proficient in an immense variety of tools and languages (both software and human), in addition to having significant technical depth as a backend engineer. It's important to me to build things that make a difference.

Senior Software EngineerHealthverity Sep 2022 - Sep 2024Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Us• Independently led and developed for multiple projects across a complete lifecycle at a product-driven organization; beginning with requirements gathering, design, and tasking, and seeing through development to deployment and monitoring. Projects included frontend work with React and Typescript, backend work in Python, and architecture work using the AWS CDK and AWS Serverless Framework.• Led the externalization of one of HealthVerity’s flagship applications, reworking a purely internal tool to securely support multiple client organizations while observing HIPAA compliance, and originating a new business domain to attract clients and increase revenue. This project spanned HealthVerity’s entire stack, from creating custom Okta rules to enable appropriate permissioning, to restructuring data flow and loading across our front and back ends, to changing data storage patterns in DynamoDB.• Piloted HealthVerity’s nascent platform tooling: identifying and remediating bugs across the stack, as well as adding new features to the projen and AWS CDK-based tooling, enabling HealthVerity to modernize the existing codebase as well as streamline future development.• Built custom GitHub Actions using the GitHub API to orchestrate actions across HealthVerity’s codebase, eliminate dependence on Jenkins, and integrate CI/CD into platform tooling and workflow.• Created testing infrastructure for and added features to HealthVerity’s brokerage and negotiation tool, significantly reducing feature development and bug remediation time for an application that regularly handled tens of millions of dollars in deals.• Led an engineering squad in building an application that generated easily readable data reports, reducing time to close deals for new and existing clients. The tool used Databricks and PySpark in tandem with Python wheels to generate Excel files from a template.• Resolved on-call issues for any of seven different services across several business domains and technologies. -
Software Engineer IiiStratis Iot Nov 2019 - Dec 2021Philadelphia, Pa, Us• Created a microservice allowing partner companies to receive real-time status updates from devices in the field. Gathered requirements from stakeholders, deciding on a webhook-based design in order to allow endpoint flexibility and customization for clients. The service was developed in Python and built with Bazel, and the deployment was written for Kubernetes. Key data from clients was stored in a MySQL database and accessed through a Django ORM. Integration tests were written as part of the Bazel build, while smoke testing was done through Postman. The service was built on a Message Bus in order to sniff relevant data. Followup work included documenting the RESTful API for client consumption, and building out additional features on client request. • Integrated a new device into the STRATIS platform, working in Python with the device’s API to translate its demand-response functionality into the on-demand style provided by our platform. • Designed and developed automated “healing” functionality for broken devices, using an object-oriented paradigm and exponential backoff with jitter to monitor device response and log persistent issues for review by our support team. • Worked in an on-call rotation to resolve issues across the technical stack, including performing data fixes and Kubernetes deployments in real time. • Implemented new components, features, and device integrations in TypeScript across web, mobile, desktop, and enterprise applications using the Redux/React framework. • Developed handling for a variety of message types posted to Kafka, enabling large-scale and low-latency data management and storage while handling thousands of messages per minute. • Added prefix-matching functionality to custom database software that allowed storage of data as protocol buffers in order to facilitate transaction speed and simplicity. • Worked on a 4-person Agile team in a fast-paced environment with frequent requirements and priority changes. -
Hardware And Embedded EngineerBulogics Feb 2017 - Nov 2019Philadelphia, Pa, Us• Led design and development of a wireless electronic lock that used Bluetooth and NFC to communicate with a phone or key fob. Software was developed in C using a test-driven development methodology, and ranged from HAL and device driver development, to application development, to low-level Bluetooth and memory management implementations, to safety-critical paths for user access in the event of battery failure or connection loss, to custom authorization and security methods. Hardware work included component selection, security implementation against bad actor penetration, and both non-destructive and destructive testing, while coordinating with a foreign manufacturing partner. • Performed schematic design and board layout in EAGLE for a gateway device communicating over Z-Wave, Zigbee, Bluetooth, and WiFi channels. Tested board iterations, using a multimeter and oscilloscope to identify issues, and soldering/reflow equipment to patch them and test future changes for viability. Testing also used a suite of wireless sniffers and devices to test functional compatibility. • Repaired damaged boards using soldering and reflow equipment to enable field deployment and reliability for urgent installations. • Tuned an antenna with a pi matching network for use inside a metal enclosure, using an Antenna Tuning Unit in conjunction with relevant software. • Snooped SPI, I2C, and UART communications using a logic analyzer for on-device debugging. -
CtoMy.Flow Jan 2016 - Jul 2017• Developed an embedded application in C++ that communicated over Bluetooth with a mobile device, sending data from a custom-built PCB. • Worked with 3D printers and EAGLE to bring the hardware and mechanical components of a prototype device to MVP status under a tight budget and time-frame; developed additional prototypes from scratch. • Ran a focused engineering team in R&D and product development, while incorporating requirements from domestic and international stakeholders and customers to ensure feasibility and desirability of the final product. • Performed board-level hardware debugging and repair using soldering equipment and hand tools. -
Electrical Engineering FellowBurro Brand Solar Jul 2015 - Dec 2015Koforidua, Eastern Region, Gh• Tested battery lights, inverters, and more to provide information on their functionality and recommend improvements.• Developed and maintained a country-wide network of solar installers and service technicians to reduce costs on travel from our main office.• Spoke directly with clients to recommend products and diagnose problems in their home solar systems.• Managed and improved Burro's service center, including optimizing workflow, and meeting one-on-one with personnel to discuss goals• Designed and oversaw the fabrication of new products and tools based on local constraints. -
Quantitative TutorVassar College Sep 2011 - May 2014Poughkeepsie, New York, Us• Assisted students, both one-on-one and in small groups, with problem sets in math, physics, and chemistry.• Prioritized incoming students and managed multiple groups during busy hours. -
Machine Shop TaThayer School Of Engineering At Dartmouth Apr 2013 - Aug 2013Hanover, New Hampshire, Us• Operated and instructed users on various shop machinery, including CNC mills, lathes, bandsaws, and laser cutters.• Maintained shop machinery and space. -
R&D InternTakamoto Biogas Jun 2012 - Aug 2012Nairobi, Ke• Liaised between Takamoto and our clients, both in the city and in the country, in regards to technical matters and construction of biogas accessories.• Designed and implemented prototype construction of Takamoto's effluent filter, which separates the liquid and solid portions of the digester output for easier handling and use.• Traveled to meet with clients, asses their needs, and produce working solutions.
