Analyst with the Data Science team helping deliver insights to planning and engineering projects using spatial analysis, statistics, and machine leaning. My role is gather, analyze, and present complex and often disparate information in a manner that informs and contributes to our projects. I primarily work PostgeSQL and python for analysis, and use QGIS for cartography.

As an urban planner working in a small, dynamic environment, I do a bit of everything. Some highlights include:• GIS based analysis, including demographic analysis, spatial statistics, and real estate assessment. Extensive use of ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and familiar with QGIS and GRASS.• Transportation analysis and modeling work, including multimodal analysis and design, use of GTFS data, and integrated land use and transportation planning. Research Assistant for various professors. I mainly perform GIS and other statistical analysis, as well as research, report writing, data summaries, and presentations.Projects include:GIS analysis of walkability around GO Transit stations. Involved policy research, methodological development, data analysis, and report writing.Housing trends in Rustbelt cities. Teaching assistant for an introductory GIS course. I lead a lab group of approximately 30 students, with tasks ranging from group instructions to individual questions and answers. I provide instruction and guidance and support to help students learn new concepts, and use this knowledge to produce tangible projects.

Intern planner with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing's Provincial Planning Policy Branch, working in the Greater Golden Horseshoe Greenbelt section. I was tasked with conducting supporting research for an upcoming 2015 policy review. My specialization was in the analysis of infrastructure related provincial plan performance indicators. I also assisted in the tracking of other performance indicators, and analyzing acquired data.

Transit Planner with the City of Ottawa’s Transit Services branch (OC Transpo). Tasked ranged from analysing transit related data, creating reports and recommendations, and managing large datasets. I was the lead on several ongoing projects, including allocating small scale infrastructure improvements, managing customer requested improvements and changes, and siting transit stops in new subdivisions. I also created a specialized vehicle routing GIS script to identify and avoid hazards to our new double decker bus fleet.

Intern with the City of Ottawa's Strategic Planning Unit. For my internship, I examined the pilot project Laurier Avenue Segregated Bike Lane. After conducting a literature and policy review, I then spent two months doing data collection. This included in field observations, and a public survey with over 800 responses. I then analysed over 30,000 cycling counts and related variables for correlations. Based on this data and its analysis, I prepared a report for the department, and also delivered a presentation of my findings to senior staff and management from several City departments, and then later to an external citizen advisory committee.
