Hi, my name is Jacob Noe, and I am a junior Mechanical Engineering Major at the University of Rochester. Through my coursework and experience outside the classroom, I have developed a strong foundation in mechanical engineering, and I am eager to leverage my knowledge in practical applications and contribute to impactful projects. Work Experience: My engineering journey includes industry experience interning at Brooks Automation. I was responsible for editing and updating mechanical drawings and assemblies using CREO while tracking and managing design changes through Agile. This role helped me strengthen my engineering skills and gain valuable corporate work experience, enhancing my understanding of professional engineering practices.Hands-on Engineering: I am a member of the University of Rochester Baja SAE team, where I assist in manufacturing, problem-solving, and testing various components for our competitive high-performance car. I have also honed my machining skills through individual projects, such as manufacturing a pen from aluminum. All these experiences have helped me grow as a hands-on engineer, developing both technical skills and practical problem-solving abilities.Coding and Analysis: I have learned to code in MATLAB and completed projects ranging from analyzing the strength of different contact lenses to creating games like 2048. Recently, I have been learning Python by starting an F1 data analytics project to create an Elo rating system for drivers. Learning to code has been a challenge, but it has been extremely rewarding to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Even though my journey toward working as a motorsport engineer is still in the early stages, I am excited to continue learning and growing as I tackle new challenges in engineering.
