I joined Secure Computing Corporation, which was acquired by McAfee 3 months after I started, with the expectation of being moved to the development team after gaining some familiarity with the products. When it became clear that this would not happen in a reasonable amount of time, I took an electrical engineering position at another small company near my residence.
