About Jacob Reynolds

I was born and raised in Wisconsin, and I love anything involving the Packers, Badgers, Brewers, or Bucks. I am also a big golfer, so I would love to conduct any important business deals on the golf course. I recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and I am actively looking for an engineering company to grow my career at and contribute to innovation.I currently work at a small business in Racine, WI called Cast Tools, Inc., as a Process Engineer and Production Planning Assistant. I have many responsibilities including: planning the production schedule, preparing spreadsheets to calculate income from various jobs, determining the chemistry for metal alloys used to make castings, and operating an optical emission spectrometer to verify product compositions. My time at Cast Tools has coincided with some of its most profitable business quarters, and I look to bring these type of results to any future employers. I enjoy working on a team with other driven people because I think it makes working a lot more enjoyable and productive. I also have a passion for the chemical engineering industry, and I think it is cool how working with molecules on an atomic scale can make a positive impact on millions of people's lives. Cast Tools is a foundry that is a family owned small business, so my role as a process engineer required me to do a little bit of everything. I started there as a production intern where I worked through every part of the manufacturing process. This included making the sand molds for the castings, melting and pouring molten metal, and cleaning up the castings to get them ready for shipment. These initial duties taught me what it was like to create a quality product on time in an engineering setting to meet a customer's needs. As I got more experience working at Cast Tools, I got promoted to process engineer where I began take on additional responsibilities that utilized my degree in chemical engineering. One of these responsibilities is planning future jobs for the company and using cost analysis to calculate the profits from each particular job. I also help determine the chemical additives needed in each metal alloy to optimize the physical properties of the castings, and this requires consideration of outside pouring conditions like temperatures, dew points, etc. I also verify the chemical compositions for the castings in each heat using an optical emission spectrometer. These responsibilities require constant adaptation, and I embrace the challenge because this keeps me engaged in my work.My hard work at Cast Tools has also paid off because the company has experienced some of its most profitable quarters since I have been there. A veteran at the company that has worked there for over 30 years said that he loves when I return from school and work there because he knows that, "the work always gets done." I have enjoyed the variety of experiences I have obtained working at Cast Tools, and they have prepared me to succeed at any future employer.
