I started working with a handful of students as a math tutor as a sophomore in high school. As a junior, I had two goals make the high school varsity basketball team, and grow my tutoring clientele. I was cut from the basketball team, so I focused all of my energy and effort on growing my tutoring service. Throughout high school, I worked with around 40 students. As a high school senior, I volunteered at the California School for the blind where I was tasked with teaching a visually impaired student Geometry. That fully developed my patience and creativity as a tutor. We used physical materials such as a tactile drawing board to specify shapes and different length pencils to represent different prime factors. As a college freshman, I did a small amount of tutoring throughout the course of the year. Over the summer, while working with Intuit, I developed a plan to officially incorporate the business and bring on tutors to work under me. I was successfully able to start the business, and I still handle a large amount of the tutoring work that comes our way.
