Designed, built and test a novel unipolar charging system for an aerosol mass spectrometer. Funded by Aerosol Dynamics Inc. (Dr. Susanne V. Hering) from DOE SBIR Phase I grant. • Worked closely with representatitves from Donaldson Company (Bloomington, MN) to investigate penetration and mass-loading of highly agglomerated nanoparticles in Donaldson filters (Scheckman et al, “Filtration of Highly Agglomerated Nanoparticles” in Presentations, below). • Continued NSF funded research on nanoparticle synthesis/generation, characterization and aerosol lung-deposition (Scheckman & McMurry, Journal of Aerosol Science, 2010 in Publications, below) .• Worked on DOE funded research on atmospheric particle formation and growth, including participation in August 2009 field study in Atlanta, GA (Jiang et al, Aerosol Research Letters, 2010 in Publications, below).Additional responsibilities: Assisting students with measurement system and experiment design • Instrument troubleshooting and repair • Lab software management • Chemical inventory.

Designed, assembled and characterized a diffusion-flame-based system for generation of nanoparticle agglomerates with controlled morphological properties. Results published in master’s thesis (see "Education") and Scheckman et al, Langmuir, 2009 (see "Publications"). Advised by Professor Peter H. McMurry; funded by NSF grant.
