I am Jacob Shurtleff, photographer, videographer and Davis High senior, and I love making awesome media. In my free time I enjoy flying drones, 3d modeling, and learning weird random things that will be engrained in my brain forever. Some might think that last one is a waste of time, but I assure you, knowing how silly string was invented will one day be useful… hopefully. My family often tells me that I’m weird for liking random things like fat house stuffed animals that speak to my soul, but that’s okay because it’s the “special” people that get places in life and not just insane asylums. I’ve been told by many random quizzes I found on google that I’d be a great accountant (not going to lie, I’d be the best accountant ever), but that sounds so boring. Even though I’m not exactly sure what I want to do with my life, I like the idea of becoming a movie director or producer and being astoundingly rich, or at least a little so I can feed my expensive hobbies, one of which happens to be spending money. At Davis High, I am editor in chief of DTV the school’s news broadcast team that makes weekly news videos with over 20,000 viewers per episode. In class we unanimously voted for our form of government to be a dictatorship, so I really view myself as a benevolent dictator. This school year we have more members in DTV than even before, so I am excited for what we’re going to be able to do. I’m currently working as a freelance photographer and videographer.
