Ensured full hardware, software, and network redundancy and fail-over. Made all systems remotely accessible to IT so most data center operations could be performed remotely and quickly. Automated all standard IT systems installation and maintenance. Ensured fully recoverable from disaster through unique backup techniques. Created documentation for all systems.▪ Innovated database backup and scalability solution using open-source technologies (ZFS and Docker) to create physical servers with ZFS file systems. Converted customer databases to Docker containers and automated snapshotting and backing up every 15 minutes, eliminating data and time loss from hardware failure, over-utilization, and ransomware. Provided reliable backups using incremental backups stored on a secured server and backups themselves as part of database moves.▪ Split IT private cloud infrastructure for company separation, consolidating virtual machines into physical servers and relocating to a new data center cabinet with zero production downtime. Remotely reconfigured shared infrastructure and trained new company engineers, ensuring smooth system operation upon going online.▪ Increased data center capacity with zero additional cost. Reviewed data center line-item costs and new services offered, identified a new 3-phase power option, and calculated that utilizing it would allow adding more servers while reducing the number of cabinets. Added 20% more server capacity despite moving from six to five cabinets maintaining the same data center costs. ▪ Improved private-cloud reliability by automating installations and configurations with PXE, Puppet, and Ansible. Reduced scaling time from days to minutes, ensured documentation and preservation of configurations, and enabled redundancy by easily replacing failed servers with backups and Puppet.▪ Implemented fully-redundant power and networking. -
