I have worked as a senior member of the William & Mary Athletics Department Media Management team for 16 years, gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience in relationship building, communicating through a variety of mediums, and using both proven and emerging technologies to engage a diverse and ever-changing audience. The specialized skill set I developed includes photography, videography, graphic design, print design, short- and long-form writing, and running major social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. I also have amassed a deep understanding of keeping game-day statistics in a large number of sports, and have consulted with departments around the nation on questions and issues related to both the methodologies and technical use of statistics-keeping programs.My background also encompassed helping build and maintain the institutional and cultural wealth of William & Mary Athletics. I oversaw the office's student work force, recruiting and mentoring dozens of students each year, and also was involved in over 20 hiring searches, ranging from assistant coaches and head coaches to staff members both in my own office and in others. As the department historian, I was engaged on a regular basis with high-level constituents both internal and external to the Athletics Department, generating data for use in presentations, providing historical context to achievements, and serving as a resource for the Hall of Fame Committee.I have enrolled in the MSBA program at William & Mary to gain greater insight into the use of data to inform and transform decision-making. Through the combination of my experiences and those new insights, I anticipate being able to enhance the ability of my organizations to connect with and deepen their relationships with all stakeholders.
