I am a software architect with an MBA from George Mason University and more than 20 years experience in the IT industry. During my career, I have worked as an application developer, a Linux system engineer, a project manager, and a team leader. In my current role as the Chief Software Architect for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, I am responsible for recommending and designing technical solutions to business problems at the museum.This position allows me to search for ways technology can be used to help prevent future genocides and ensure the world never forgets the horrors of the Holocaust. My work in this area includes a joint project with with Google for mapping areas of humanitarian crisis.I have spoken at a number of conferences on topics including:■ Applying RFID and mobile technologies to museums and nonprofits■ Benefits and challenges of architecting a secure real time collaboration and communication system■ Developing and publishing a set of standards for exchanging common information across museumsI am always interested in discussing current trends in business and technology. Some topics I am following now include: test driven development, best practices for using technology in nonprofits, CRM implementation strategies, challenges encountered when moving IT services and large amounts of data to the cloud and how mobile devices are changing the workplace.
